In an article I recently wrote for HOT ROD Magazine, I tested several catalyst options back to back on the twin turbo C6 Corvette. In my usual fashion, I resorted to cold hard data instead of emotions or internet legend. The results were eye opening to say the least. We literally lost zero power between a set of straight 3″ pipes and the GESI G Sport catalysts. During testing, we collected raw pressure measurements both upstream and downstream of each catalyst option as well as upstream of the turbochargers so we could see exactly which exhaust components contributed to the total pressure seen by the engine.
Again, the data doesn’t lie. A properly sized catalyst made essentially no difference to the engine in terms of pressure and power delivery. Even better, these GESI cats have enough surface area and precious metal content to actually do meaningful cleanup work and reduce the stink behind the car.
