In March, I was pleased to have the opportunity to come back to my Alma Mater of Kettering University as a guest lecturer. I still remember Dr. Davis joining the (then GMI) Mechanical Engineering department when I was a student. He now runs the engine development labs and guides the Formula SAE teams at Kettering. Times may change, but the science behind engineering and calibration does not. It’s good to see that with minimal prodding, these bright future engineers quickly discovered the underlying principles behind electronic fuel injection controls. No doubt, they will be able to apply this lesson to several of their current projects in the garage and at future competitions. I was proud to be invited back and share my experience with this generation of innovators.
