SEMA stands behind companies working to push the envelope for both ICE and EV development. I was pleased to be asked to participate in their most recent message. Check it out here:
We’re so happy with how the NC turbo car runs that we’ve decided to add support for the whole line of Flyin’ Miata parts. Calibrated Success is now an official Parts Dealer for FM. We’ll even install them for you here with an appointment.
Working with our client Fuel Injector Connection, we have added the ability to generate plug and play data for popular UTV applications using their injectors. Since many of these UTVs use a similar Bosch controller, the process is the same with only minor changes in the table sizes and breakpoints. However, since the Bosch ECU incorporates cylinder size (and more!) into the injector data, we have taken the guesswork out of generating data tailored to your application with this worksheet.
Click on the video below and watch as we walk through entering this data directly into HPTuners software for your UTV.
As part of the ETTN “Lunch and Learn” on Thursday November 2, 2023, Greg Banish will be discussing “How to Pass Your First Emissions Lab Test” along with other industry and SEMA Lab speakers. Join us in room N239 for more great info.
Our third live webinar event will be held Friday, September 16, 2022 1-3pm EST. This time, we will focus on the Ford variable camshaft control systems. We will use HPTuners software to look at how different generations from the 3v “dual equal” to the EcoBoost and Coyote “Ti-VCT” versions of this control work in the EEC. Learn the effects on airflow, spark, and torque along with how the EEC compensates in different strategies.
Registration for this live closed ZOOM session is required in advance. Cost is $95. contact Greg@calibratedsuccess.com to join.
Our second online LIVE training event will be held Monday, September 12, 2022 1-3pm EST. This one will focus on the Ford drive by wire control system that has been been used from the early 2000’s until today. We will break down how this torque-based system works and show examples from 3v, Coyote, and even aftermarket supercharged applications. Learn how to safely modify these systems with larger throttle bodies, blowers, and modified engines to get better driveability by making the tables work for you.
Registration for this live closed ZOOM session is required in advance. Cost is $95. Contact greg@calibratedsuccess.com to join.
Webinar #1 will focus on a topic that confuses many tuners (and even engineers) when working on idle, fueling, variable cam timing, traction or boost control. It doesn’t have to be that complex. I took the heavy math out of PID Loop tuning and put together a webinar that teaches the underlying concepts with practical examples. Learn what proportional, integral, and derivative really mean and how best to tackle them without sitting through 8 credit hours of engineering school.
This session will be held via private ZOOM link on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 1-3pm EST. Cost is $49 to join.
We are pleased to announce that Greg Banish will be speaking in TWO sessions at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas. You can sign up through the SEMA Education links on their website for these FREE sessions. First will be a panel discussion on Tuesday 11/1/2022 at 11AM on “Emissions Certification, a Deep Dive” followed that same day by Greg’s 3PM “Keys to Running a Lucrative Tuning Business”. Check the official show schedule for exact locations and any possible changes in times.
In March, I was pleased to have the opportunity to come back to my Alma Mater of Kettering University as a guest lecturer. I still remember Dr. Davis joining the (then GMI) Mechanical Engineering department when I was a student. He now runs the engine development labs and guides the Formula SAE teams at Kettering. Times may change, but the science behind engineering and calibration does not. It’s good to see that with minimal prodding, these bright future engineers quickly discovered the underlying principles behind electronic fuel injection controls. No doubt, they will be able to apply this lesson to several of their current projects in the garage and at future competitions. I was proud to be invited back and share my experience with this generation of innovators.
We are proud to announce the return of our popular live, in person Advanced Ford Training course. We will be hosting a course once again with the host of our very first live class, VMP Tuning in their new location in New Smyrna Beach, Florida on April 22-23, 2022. Much of the material came from our original SCT Dealer-Only Training course, but it has been updated to include other software platforms and is now open to the public. Come learn from an experienced OEM calibration engineer, ask questions, and see the latest goodies at VMP while sharing lunch with some of the brightest in the industry.
Registration is $1395 per person, with a $100 early registration discount available through January. As with all Calibrated Success live courses, class size will be limited to make sure that everyone gets the most from their attendance. Contact greg@calibratedsuccess.com to sign up.
